When do you need an electrical safety inspection?
Selling your home — buyers and their attorneys increasingly request an electrical safety inspection as part of due diligence. Having your own inspection report ready before listing speeds up the closing process and gives buyers confidence in the property. We turn around written reports within 48 hours.
Buying a home — before you close on a home in Brooklyn, Queens, or Manhattan, an electrical inspection is one of the best investments you can make. Issues like Federal Pacific panels, ungrounded outlets, knob-and-tube wiring, and undersized service panels can cost tens of thousands to remediate after closing. Our inspection identifies all issues before you sign the contract.
Insurance renewal and compliance — major insurance carriers including State Farm, Allstate, Liberty Mutual, and Travelers routinely require electrical safety inspections for older homes or homes with known hazardous panels (Federal Pacific, Zinsco, Pushmatic). We provide reports that meet insurance carrier requirements.
After a renovation or addition — verify that all work was completed to code.
Before a major appliance upgrade — if you’re adding central A/C, an EV charger, a hot tub, or finishing a basement, an inspection confirms your existing service and panel can handle the new load.
Annual or periodic safety check — the National Electrical Code recommends home electrical systems be inspected every 10 years, or every 5 years for homes over 40 years old.
Real estate agents and home inspectors across Brooklyn and Queens refer their clients to Asset Electric Corp for one reason — we deliver what we promise, when we promise it.
48-hour written reports — you don’t have time to wait a week for an inspection report before closing. We deliver written PDF inspection reports within 48 hours of the inspection, often same-day.
Clean, professional documentation — our reports are organized, easy to read, and formatted so you can forward them directly to buyers, sellers, insurance adjusters, attorneys, and lenders without editing.
Agent referral program — we pay licensed real estate agents a referral fee for every panel replacement or major electrical project that closes through their referral. Contact us to discuss terms.
Reliable scheduling — when you tell your client we’ll be there Tuesday at 10am, we will be there Tuesday at 10am. Our reputation depends on your reputation.
Direct line to the owner — no dispatchers, no call centers. You work directly with Ilya Ilin, owner of Asset Electric Corp. Questions get answered same-day.

What We Check During an Electrical Safety Inspection
Electrical grounding — we verify that all outlets, circuits, and equipment are properly grounded to current NEC and NYC DOB standards. Many older NYC homes and apartments have ungrounded two-prong outlets that present a shock and surge hazard. We document all grounding deficiencies and provide recommendations for correction.
Breaker panel terminal connections — loose connections in the breaker panel are one of the leading causes of electrical fires. We inspect all terminal connections, bus bars, and wiring connections inside the panel for tightness, signs of arcing, overheating, or corrosion.
Amperage readings — we take amp readings on circuits to verify they are operating within safe limits and not exceeding breaker ratings. Overloaded circuits that draw more current than the breaker is rated for are a serious fire hazard that often goes undetected without proper testing.
Panel condition — we inspect the overall condition of the panel including breaker operation, signs of water intrusion, rust, burning smells, and whether the panel brand has known safety issues such as Federal Pacific, Zinsco, or Pushmatic equipment.
Outlet and switch condition — we check all accessible outlets and switches for proper wiring, grounding, and GFCI protection where required by code.
Visible wiring — we inspect all accessible wiring for damage, improper splices, missing junction box covers, and signs of pest damage or overheating.
After the inspection we provide a written report detailing all findings, code violations, and recommended corrections. All work to resolve identified issues can be performed by Asset Electric Corp with proper NYC DOB permits.
